Assessing the acceptability of MCD tests to health professionals, including barriers and enablers for successful implementation

For MCD tests to be integrated successfully into the healthcare system, the tests themselves and the relevant clinical follow-up pathways must be acceptable and feasible for relevant health professionals. This research activity will examine the factors that could support or hinder the successful adoption of MCD tests and subsequent care pathways in Australia.
Using implementation science methods, we will explore health professionals’ views on the usability of MCD tests, the clarity and feasibility of follow-up pathways, and the practical realities of embedding these processes into routine care. This includes identifying context-specific barriers, such as time pressures, workflow challenges, or resource constraints, as well as enablers that could support successful implementation.

These insights will guide the design of pathways that are realistic, sustainable, and aligned with the needs of Australia’s healthcare workforce. The results will also directly inform the final MCD Spotlight Roadmap recommendations.
